At Grace Refuge Recovery, your privacy and dignity matter deeply to us. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

Welcome to Grace Refuge Recovery (referred to as "Grace Refuge," "we," "us," or "our"). We operate a faith-based sober living community located in Riverside, California, including this website at gracerefugerecovery.com (the "Site"). Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us, and we are committed to handling all personal information with care, confidentiality, and respect.

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you visit our Site, contact us, or engage with our intake and admissions process. By accessing or using our Site, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please refrain from using our Site or services.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways:

a. Personal Information You Provide

When you contact us, submit an inquiry, or apply through our intake process, you may voluntarily provide us with personal information, including but not limited to:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Mailing address
  • Emergency contact information
  • Information about your recovery history, substance use background, or treatment needs that you choose to share with us as part of the intake and admissions process
  • Any other information you voluntarily submit through contact forms, emails, or phone calls

b. Non-Personal Information Collected Automatically

When you access our Site, we may automatically collect certain non-personal technical information, including:

  • IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Device type and operating system
  • Referring URL
  • Pages visited and time spent on the Site
  • General geographic location (city or region level)

If you email us, call us, or send us a message through our contact form, we may retain a record of that communication in order to respond to your inquiry and provide follow-up support.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect only for legitimate purposes related to operating our ministry and sober living program. Specifically, we use your information to:

  • Process and evaluate intake and admissions applications
  • Assess whether our program is a good fit for your situation and recovery needs
  • Coordinate housing, program logistics, and resident support
  • Send you relevant updates, announcements, or information about our services (you may opt out at any time)
  • Improve our Site and the quality of our services
  • Comply with applicable legal and regulatory obligations
  • Protect the safety of our residents, staff, and community

We do not use your information for advertising purposes, and we do not sell or rent your personal information to any third party for marketing.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We treat all information shared with us with the discretion it deserves. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

a. Service Providers

We may share information with trusted third-party vendors who assist us in operating our Site or communications — such as email delivery services, website hosting providers, or intake management software. These providers are contractually obligated to keep your information confidential and may not use it for their own purposes.

b. Legal Compliance

We may disclose your information when required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Grace Refuge Recovery, our residents, or the public.

c. Protection of Safety

In situations involving an imminent risk of harm to you or others, we may share relevant information with appropriate authorities, emergency services, or healthcare providers to protect health and safety.

d. Business Transfers

In the unlikely event of a merger, acquisition, or transfer of our organization's assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change via a prominent notice on our Site.

e. With Your Consent

We may share your information with third parties when you have given us explicit consent to do so, such as when you ask us to coordinate with a referral source, family member, or treatment provider on your behalf.

4. Sensitive Health & Recovery Information

As a sober living and recovery organization, we understand that information related to substance use, mental health, and personal recovery history is sensitive and private. Any health-related or recovery-related information you share with us through our intake process or direct communications is treated with the highest level of confidentiality.

Grace Refuge Recovery is a sober living residence and does not provide clinical treatment or medical services. As such, we are not a covered entity under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). However, we voluntarily treat all health-related disclosures with the same spirit of confidentiality and discretion that HIPAA principles reflect.

We will not share your recovery or health-related information with family members, employers, referral sources, or any outside parties without your explicit, informed consent, except as required by law or to protect safety as described in Section 3 above.

5. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

Our Site may use cookies and similar tracking technologies — small data files placed on your browser — to improve your experience and help us understand how visitors use our Site. Cookies may be used to:

  • Remember your preferences
  • Analyze Site traffic and usage patterns through tools such as Google Analytics
  • Improve Site functionality and content

  • Inquiry and contact form submissions are retained for as long as needed to respond and follow up.
  • Intake application records are retained in accordance with applicable California regulations governing sober living and residential recovery homes.
  • Resident records are maintained for a minimum of seven (7) years following the end of residency, or longer if required by law.

When your information is no longer needed, we dispose of it securely. You may request deletion of your information subject to any legal retention requirements — see Section 8 for how to make that request.

7. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include secure data storage, limited staff access on a need-to-know basis, and encrypted communication channels where applicable.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage system is completely secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your information has been compromised, please contact us immediately using the information in Section 13.

8. Your Privacy Choices

We respect your ability to control your personal information. You have the following rights and choices:

a. Access and Correction

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct any inaccuracies. To do so, please contact us at the information provided in Section 13.

b. Deletion

You may request that we delete your personal information. We will honor such requests to the extent permitted by law. Please note that certain records may need to be retained to comply with legal obligations or to resolve disputes.

c. Opt-Out of Communications

If you have received communications from us and no longer wish to, you may opt out at any time by:

9. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). These rights include:

a. Right to Know

You have the right to request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources from which we collected it, the business or commercial purpose for collecting it, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.

b. Right to Delete

You have the right to request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions (such as information needed to complete a transaction, comply with a legal obligation, or protect against fraud).

c. Right to Correct

You have the right to request correction of inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.

d. Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing

Grace Refuge Recovery does not sell personal information, nor do we share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Therefore, this right does not currently apply, but we will always honor any such request.

e. Right to Non-Discrimination

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights. Exercising your rights will not affect the quality of services we provide to you.

f. How to Submit a Request

To exercise any of your California privacy rights, please contact us using the information in Section 13. We will respond to verifiable consumer requests within 45 days as required by law. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request.

10. Minors' Privacy

Our Site and services are intended for adults aged 18 and older. Grace Refuge Recovery does not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, we will take prompt steps to delete that information from our records.

11. Third-Party Links

Our Site connects with the following third-party services that may collect or process personal information:

  • Formspree — Our contact form is processed by Formspree (formspree.io), which receives the name, email, and message you submit. Please review Formspree's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle your data.
  • One Step Software — Our intake application is hosted by One Step Software (onestepsoftware.com), which collects admissions and personal information you voluntarily provide. Their platform is subject to its own privacy and data security practices.
  • Google Analytics — We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our Site. Google may collect anonymized usage data. See Google's Privacy Policy for more information.
  • Google Fonts — Our Site loads fonts from Google's servers, which may log your IP address as part of that request.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these external services. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies before submitting personal information. The inclusion of any third-party service on our Site does not imply our endorsement of their privacy practices.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, applicable law, or organizational structure. When we make material changes, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this page and post a prominent notice on our Site.
